Are you a low-income homeowner?
Rebuilding Together Oakland | East Bay is working to ensure safe homes and communities for everyone. We will repair your home at no cost to you if you qualify. Our team will assess, organize and supervise the projects from application through completion.
Applications are accepted year-round to be considered for repairs. All large scale home repair work is done in the month of April each year. The next opportunity for large scale home repair work is April 2022.
If you or someone you know is eligible for our program, we encourage you to download and complete the homeowner application. It is important that you complete the entire application and attach the requested documents prior to sending it to our office.
To be eligible for home repairs, you must:
- Own and live in your house in the City of Oakland or Hayward
- Owing a mortgage is accepted (must be up to date with your mortgage and property taxes)
- Be at least 62 or older, person with a disability, a caregiver of a disabled or chronically ill family member, OR a veteran
- Qualify as low-income according to HUD guidelines*

We cannot guarantee that all repairs requested will be addressed; we will do all that we can given the funds, materials, and skills of our volunteers.

May I recommend a candidate for repair?
Yes. If you know a homeowner that could benefit from no cost home repairs please share about Rebuilding Together Oakland | East Bay's rebuilding programs. You may call in or email a referral.
I do not live in Oakland or Hayward; may I still apply?
Rebuilding Together Oakland | East Bay serves homeowners and community facilities in Oakland and Hayward. We are also accepting applications other cities within Alameda County. For other counties, please visit the Rebuilding Together national website to find an affiliate near you at www.rebuildingtogether.org.
If selected, will I need to work on the repairs?
No, but we encourage you to have all able-bodied family members and friends over the age of 14 work alongside our volunteers if your home is selected.
Do you provide repairs to home rentals?
